I’m really sorry for the break in posting, but life got a little full and I got behind in posting. But I’m back today with a picture of Tam (anniversary edition) at our software class. If you look closely you can see a little WIP of my next patch I was working on. I just want to give a big thank you to Tim at Quorn County Crafts for the class, I learned so much extra with the software. Keep an eye out for the new patch, I’ll be test stitching it out this week.
A new Tam the Tiny Hamster vessel has arrived!
So Tam and me decided to do a very naughty thing and looked into the Japanese second hand selling site, Mercari. We knew there was special 10th anniversary Corohams, but sadly Amuse Japan hadn’t listed them on the main site, so we had to go looking especially as this is Tams 9th anniversary year of being with me. And what did we find after looking through a bunch of listings? But a special Tam! He came this week and we’re waiting to go out again so he can have an adventure. We’ll bee keeping an eye on Mercari and seeing if any more Tams show up. Next week we’ll be introducing some of the other Hamster Team we have here at the Curious Hamster, it’s not just all Tam and me.
Tired but so happy.
Yesterday we had the best time, at the UK Pony Con. What is this con you ask? Well it’s two days of pure My Little Pony magic! A con full of amazing people, costumes and shopping. Tam came along to keep an eye on everything and make sure I had a good time, and we did. I did some epic shopping and finished a few Generation 1 sets I wanted and I even picked up some accessories as well. I’m incredibly tired and just a bit sore today now, but it was worth it so much and I we’ll try to be there next year as well. You can see some more photos of on Tams instagram page here.
A little sneak peek of a new home decor item.
Carrying on from last week, I’ve been working on a new project for home decor. This time I’ve added a glow in the dark element. And I think I’ve cracked using that thread. This will be added to Etsy first in the week, but I hope you like the work in progress photo.
Oh, what a weekend!
This weekend Tam and me had the special job of helping out the talented Rachael Harman with her stall at the Melbourne arts trail, in Derbyshire.
I know we’re friends, but genuinely her work is stunning and whimsical. The amount of effort and thought she puts into her designs and makes is something I aspire to with my own things.
Why not go have a look on her site and let her designs transport you to a different place HERE
The many faces of Tam.
Along with the most beautiful artwork you can find on this site, Tam the Tiny Hamster also has physical bodies. That’s right, bodies! There is a Tam of all sizes and for all occasions. And because of all this overwhelming cuteness, I had to make him a special place in my room. And this is the Shelf of Tam, along with his little moth friend.
You can follow Tam on more adventures over on Instagram and X. Be sure to give him a follow and tell him how cute he is.
Tam, internet famous!?
As you might not know, Tam the tiny hamster was made by the wonderful company Amuse in Japan. Each month they check the hashtags over on X and pick a few photos to share on the dedicated page. And last month Tam got picked!
You can check out the page here and see if you can spot Tam! Don’t forget to give Amuse a follow on their social media and see all the cute plushies they make.
Oh wow! So much for keeping the blog up!
Last year was…something right? I was struggling quite a lot over the summer and something had to change, before I got more ill. So, I made the scary decision to quit my part time retail job. I stopped working at the end of November and I feel like I’m healing slowly. It’s been so odd not going to work each week and of course I’m having doubts about working for myself full time (doesn’t everyone?) but I just couldn’t keep it up, my mental health was suffering too much. I think it was the right move in the end, I’ve got to give Angels-Cave a good proper go because it brings me so much happiness. It’s all very much outside my comfort zone, but I need to move forward and push myself to get back to being better.
I’ve got lots of plans for new items this year and I’m working hard to get everything back in stock as soon as I can. I’m still having low days when working is hard, but I’m carefully pushing myself a little more each week. The social media accounts are updated more regularly, as it’s just a quick job to post a photo, but I’m gonna try to blog more even if I have a hard time thinking of interesting things!
I hope everyone is keeping safe, and being kind to yourself and others.
New iron on backing!
Good news! I’ve bought new and stonger iron on backing, HeatNBond Ultra Hold no sew. This new backing is much stonger and won’t need sewing. I’m in the process of swaping all the patches over, but some of the older stock will have to old backing on. All orders will be sent out with the same backing on though.
New Ko-Fi goal.
I’ve added a new Ko-Fi goal for some shiny new thread colour cards! The company Wonderfil have an amazing range of threads and I normally buy them at one of the NEC shows (so I can see the colour in person) Since COVID has put a stop to the sewing shows, I want to finaly invest in some Wonderfil colour cards. Any spare change will go towrads two cards and the shipping.
